Who Can Enrol and What to Expect?

Age requirement: All international students must be at least 18 years of age at the time of course commencement.

English language requirements: Minimum IELTS 6.0 for direct entry; 5.5 with up to 10 weeks ELICOS; 5.0 with up to 20 weeks. PTE Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced, and TOEFL iBT are also accepted at equivalent scores.

Computer literacy: Basic MS Word, PowerPoint, and internet skills required. Students must bring a personal laptop (Windows 10 or higher).

Physical requirements: The CPC50220 involves real on-site learning. To participate safely, students must be able to:

  • Walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods on active building sites
  • Lift and carry light-to-moderate items-tools, documentation, and safety equipment
  • Work comfortably outdoors in varying conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise
  • Wear full PPE throughout site visits-hard hat, safety boots, hi-vis vest, gloves, and eye/ear protection
  • Complete CPCWHS1001 (White Card)-includes manual handling, hazard identification, and emergency response
  • Take part in site surveys, inspections, set-out procedures, and supervision tasks

Pre-training review: All students complete a pre-training review and an LLN&D assessment. This is not an entry barrier-it helps AABT identify support needs from day one.

RPL and Credit Transfer: RPL is available based on prior training or work experience. Credit Transfer is accepted for equivalent units from accredited qualifications.
